Staff
Camp Fernwood staff come from many different backgrounds, cultures, and countries. Each counselor is a unique individual who adds something to the Fernwood community. Being a counselor at Fernwood is about giving of yourself and letting others give to you. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
A job as a counselor at Camp Fernwood is hard work, and our expectations are very high, yet we work hard to create an environment where it is easy to be successful, and where hard work is rewarded. At Fernwood, you will form friendships that will last a lifetime, and we are consistently rewarded by the impact that working at Fernwood has had on the lives of our counselors.
You will grow and realize how important relationships are within a community. You will have fun, you will laugh, and you will be taken back to your childhood days. You will also realize the significance of being a good role model, of taking responsibility, and of leading by example. Being a Fernwood staff member is one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have.
So why do I come back … because I can … and because Fernwood girls are special and have taught me the most important lessons in life:To love not a little, but with all my heart. To cry, to laugh, to think, to sing, and to always have time for everyone. To listen not only with my ears, but also with my heart. To hear the song of a loon, the music of the rain, and to see the beauty in a lightning storm. Fernwood is a special place, and I hope that each of you finds as much joy here as I have. — Shelley King
